I believes a woman’s sensitive healthcare decisions should remain between her and her doctor. I am dedicated to protecting reproductive justice and privacy in healthcare. In August 2023, South Carolina’s all-male Supreme Court upheld a law from the Republican state legislature banning nearly all abortions after six weeks, when many women do not yet know they are pregnant. This ruling raised concerns about increased government interference in reproductive healthcare, especially after the only female justice on the court was replaced.
As a physician, I oppose political control over women’s bodies. I advocate for access to in vitro fertilization (IVF), contraception, and comprehensive reproductive healthcare, emphasizing the need to limit government involvement in sensitive medical matters.
In contrast, Roger Nutt’s extreme stance on reproductive rights threatens women’s healthcare and personal autonomy. By co-sponsoring the Heartbeat Bill, which bans nearly all abortions after six weeks, he creates a dangerous environment for healthcare providers and women, leading to poorer health outcomes and driving experienced professionals out of the state. Nutt’s support for such restrictive measures reflects a broader agenda to impose extreme policies on reproductive health.
